Hello Komrade!
With us coming into the time of year where a lot of new brothers and sisters have recently joined our big sweaty family I thought it might be a good time to send you all a message.
This is also a time where a lot of those New Year’s Resolutions start to slide. We have an article on how to combat that coming issue, which you can read here, but right now I just want to talk about this…
“OMG! I ate a chili dog!”, Michelle thinks in a panic. “Well shoot,” <insert deep sigh>, “I might as well grab a Hershey’s Bar now. I already blew this day.”
No. No! NO! All the NOS! Don’t be silly. Attitude is everything, and if you do things like Michelle you’re sabotaging all your hard work and that is not… cool man. You’re better than that.
SNOWBALL EFFECT NO MORE!
Listen, if you did it, own it and just handle it. Don’t let one bad choice lead to another. Snowball no more, or you might end up looking like one. And heck, maybe that bad choice was because there was nothing else to choose. Well, if that’s the case maybe your worst choice was not planning for that. That happens to me a lot. I admit it.
When that happens I honestly do not go into deprivation mode (which is common), but rather I go into, “I need to get my body some healthy nutrients” mode. Crap out, good stuff in. Focusing on that brings me back to feeling good. “I gotta get some lean protein, veggies and water going on now!”, I tell myself. Not, “Screw it, give me a cookie”, or “Now I won’t eat for the rest of the day.” Rather, take the time moving forward in your day to make healthy food choices.
So, I guess I’m really asking you to do 2 things here because I get that it is hard to know stay motivated and eat healthy.
1) Do not get weak and succumb to the snowball effect when you eat (or drink) something you wish you had not. Change your perspective. Change your mind because you can’t uneat all that pizza, but you can burn it off. So, that’s they plan okay? You over do it, you handle it. You go for a run, you get on your bike, you pop it like a squat, you… get… it… done! No shame, just action. Do that, and the willpower to eat healthy will follow.
WISHFUL THINKING
2) Focus more on what to eat now, versus what not to eat. Thinking more about getting the crap out of your body and getting the things you need in over depriving yourself. Lots of water, healthy carbs, lean protein, veggies and fruit – come to mama.
Cheers to strength of mind and body, and welcome to all our new Komrades!
~Cat
