Let’s talk temperatures. Specifically the ultra dry heat of the sauna, and the mind-whipping swirl of a cold plunge. Getting yourself started on a month of either temperature fluctuations can be a very welcomed fitness challenge that will test your resiliency, push you out of your comfort zone, and not to mention get your endorphins buzzing. We recommend challenging yourself to hopping into a sauna 3 times per week for ten minutes a session. Or if you wanna try a cold plunge, try that 3 times per week at just one minute per session. If you don’t have access to a cold plunge, try making your showers colder, even for the last minute, or working your way up to 60 seconds. We guarantee your blood will be pumping after just a few sessions.
Hike a Different Spot in Your City Every Week
If you live somewhere cool, then you probably want to check out more of your city. And if you don’t live somewhere cool, it’s even more important to explore to find the hidden, cooler parts! Our next monthly fitness goal is to challenge yourself to hike a new area in your city every single week. It doesn’t have to be a long hike, 25 minutes will do just fine. But by exploring new parts of your city, you might enjoy getting lost quite close to home and being able to see a familiar area in an unfamiliar way. And you’ll be burning a surprising amount of calories while you’re at it.
Go Climb a Mountain
Ever seen that movie Free Solo? Ok, ok, don’t get scared, we’re not asking you to tackle El Capitan sans-straps any time soon. No, we’re suggesting trying out a month of rock climbing to see if it lights a fire under your routine (and maybe under your fingernails, too). No matter where you are these days, you should be able to find at least a small rock climbing gym. Go ahead and sign up for a month-long pass and take some classes. This entirely different exercise will have you stretching, pulling, pushing, twisting, lifting, and dangling your way to fitness, and some pretty serious excitement to boot!
